Young writers aged 13-18: put pen to paper these Winter holidays and enter the inaugural Goldfields Libraries Flash 300 Writing Competition! Good news – the closing date has been extended until Friday 15 July!

In the lead up to this year’s Write on the Fringe Festival, Bendigo Library will hold dragon decorating workshops to bring ‘Hock Loong’ the Learning Dragon to life.
Local artists Leanne Monteith and Robbie Buckman will lead the workshops, and adults and children alike are invited to participate.

Bendigo and Castlemaine Libraries were delighted to welcome Rosalie Ham and Sue Maslin, the author and film producer of the highly successful Australian novel and film, ‘The Dressmaker’, to present at both libraries on Thursday 28 April.
Both events booked out quickly, with a crowd of 300+ at the Bendigo Town Hall and 200+ at Castlemaine’s Phee Broadway Theatre.

Young families are invited to join in the fun of National Simultaneous Storytime – Australia’s biggest storytelling session! The same book will be read to children across Australia at the same time.
This year’s selected book is ‘I Got this Hat’ by Kate and Jol Temple, a playful picture book about hats of all shapes and sizes.
