Goldfields Libraries invite you to take a break with a great Victorian book this summer

The Summer Read is on again at the Goldfields Libraries and with the warm weather already here, it’s time to sit back, relax and lose yourself in a great Victorian book.

Thanks to funding from the State Government and Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Woodend Library will be made more comfortable with air-conditioning, fans, new blinds and new carpet. 

The library and Council Customer Service will close from Wednesday 19 to Monday 24 November 2014 while these improvements are made.  The book chute will be open for returns.

Mobile Library users in the Goldfields Region are set to benefit from a new Mobile Library vehicle which is now on the road.

The Mobile Library has been providing service to communities in the Goldfields Library region for over forty years.

 Have you ever dreamt of building your own City? Here is your chance! 

The Brick by Brick: Build Your Own National Capital activity will be at the Bendigo Library for the next 3 months giving children and budding designers the opportunity to build their own national capital using LEGO™ bricks.

How often do you hear someone complain that tomatoes don't taste like they used to? People who care about their food are growing their own vegetables in droves - and especially heirlooms for their wonderfully diverse flavors, shapes and colours.

The Goldfields Libraries is presenting a range of events and activities to celebrate spring. A new seasonal program of events is now available placing special emphasis on connection and the natural environment.

Acting CEO for the Goldfields Library Corporation, Pam Sheean said this season is full of exciting collaborations and programs for all ages.

Patrons and staff are celebrating the return of the non-fiction collection to shelves at the Castlemaine Library, after the completion of floor repairs in the north west section.

Castlemaine Library Manager Kath Waugh said staff are looking forward to getting back to business as usual.

Castlemaine Library reopened its doors on Monday after a three day temporary closure last week.

New floors have been laid and mechanical ventilation has been installed under the floor in the northwest section of the facility.

Works will continue over the next month with painting, laying of new carpet and the reinstallation of heating to be undertaken.

Castlemaine Library is closed until Monday 16 June while a new floor is laid in the northwest section of the facility.

Over the next few days, visitors may notice an odour at or near the library. The odour will weaken over time.
