Woodend Library says farewell to Manager Lulu Cockram
After 13 wonderful years with Goldfields Libraries, Lulu Cockram will be stepping down from her role as Woodend Library Manager.
Lulu joined the Goldfields Libraries team in 2008 as a casual at the Kyneton branch before moving on to become the Manager at Woodend in 2010.
“Lulu has helped shape the Woodend Library as a safe, dynamic community-connected space within Woodend and the Macedon Ranges Shire. She is an incredible advocate for quality customer service and engagement,” says Goldfields Libraries CEO Mark Hands. “
In her 10 years as manager, Lulu has been a champion for not only the Woodend Library, but the entire Macedon Ranges community.
“She is warm, welcoming, energetic, enthusiastic and brimming with ideas! Who can forget the awesome Halloween dress-ups, the Picnic at Hanging Rock Guinness Book of Records attempt (#toomanymirandas) or the awesome activities set up each school holidays.”
Lulu’s passion for the community can be seen through the partnerships she has built with the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group, Woodend Neighbourhood House, Woodend RSL, Woodend Winter Arts Festival, Woodend Rotary, local business and countless staff members across the Macedon Ranges Shire council to name a few.
“These on-going relationships have yielded so many benefits to those in the community”, says Mr Hands. “Lulu, you should feel incredibly proud of the work you’ve achieved during your time at the library.”
In a recent parliamentary address, Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas had the following to say: “The Woodend Library, under Lulu’s guidance, has been full of fun and imagination for all. Thank you, Lulu. Your leadership has left the library stronger than ever before.”
The decision to leave wasn’t an easy one for Lulu. “I value a lot about my role at the library, but I think it’s the right time to leave, and I’m looking forward to having some more free time to pursue other interests.”
While Lulu is stepping down as Manager, she’s not leaving entirely. You’ll still see her friendly face in the library from time to time as she takes on a casual role within the organisation.
All the best for your semi-retirement Lulu.
