‘The Wayward Leunig’ - Michael Leunig in Conversation
Bendigo Library is delighted to present an evening with Michael Leunig to celebrate the release his new book, ‘The Wayward Leunig: Cartoons That Wandered Off’. This special event will be held on Friday 13 November at The Capital.
Leunig will spend an hour in conversation with Dr Susan Gillett, Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at La Trobe University in Bendigo.
Signed copies of ‘The Wayward Leunig: Cartoons That Wandered Off’ will be available for purchase on the night, a perfect Christmas gift opportunity.
Bendigo Library Adult Programs Coordinator, Sue Mooney, says that the library is very excited to be able to give the community the opportunity to see Michael Leunig in person.
“Leunig is an Australian icon who has been on the scene for over forty years. Whilst he is perhaps most famous for his cartoons in major Australian newspapers, he is also renowned for his political and cultural flavoured commentary,” says Ms Mooney.
“Leunig is also a writer, painter, philosopher and poet, and we are very much looking forward to what promises to be a very insightful conversation with Susan Gillett.”
‘The Wayward Leunig: Cartoons That Wandered Off’ is a companion volume to ‘The Essential Leunig’, published in 2012. Each book contains 400 pieces spanning five decades.
The event is free, is hosted by Bendigo Library, and will be held at The Capital.
