This year is the 12th International Talk Like a Pirate Day, which was started by friends Ol’ Chumbucket (aka John Baur) and Cap’n Slappy (aka Mark Summers) over a game of racquetball in 1995. The “pirate slang” from that day stuck, and over 100 pirate events are planned worldwide to celebrate this year.
A visit to www.talklikeapirate.com will uncover pirate slang, pirate songs, a pirate newsletter, resources to throw your own pirate parrrrty (that’s not a spelling error me hearties) including games and recipes, and even the opportunity to purchase pirate booty!
You’d be a salty scoundrel to miss it!
