Say goodbye to winter and welcome spring with Goldfields Libraries. We’re kicking off a fabulous new season of programs and events promising fun and enjoyment for the whole family!

Spring highlights:

  • Foodie Delight: Dive into the flavours of life with Virginia Trioli and Annie Smithers in What Makes Life Delicious. This conversation explores food, nostalgia, and personal growth - perfect for food enthusiasts and anyone who loves a good story. 
  • Historical Insights: Discover the intriguing story of Melbourne’s elite nineteenth-century brothel keeper, Madame Brussels, with Barbara Minchinton. And, Dr Jennifer Jones will share the story of a Scottish family navigating the hardships of Bendigo’s goldrush as part of our Discovering History series with La Trobe University.
  • Author Spotlight: Amongst others, join Bendigo local Troy Hunter as he debuts his YA novel Gus and the Missing Boy, hear from Faraday kidnapping survivor Robyn Howarth as she shares her powerful story from the 1972 event, and get practical adivce from on living with wildlife from expert Tanya Loos – including tips for managing those pesky possums in the roof.
  • Family Fun: Celebrate Children’s Week with engaging activities for the little ones including The Band Sheep Birthday Tour, and support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation with our Great Book Swap.
  • Sustainability Focus: Learn how to save energy and protect the planet with Tim Forcey, and enjoy workshops on edible plant propagation and seed saving, and upcycled plastic accessories. And join Bendigo Library for another Sustainable Saturday!
  • Community Celebrations: Experience the Victorian Seniors Festival, a week-long garden party in the beautiful Kangaroo Flat Library atrium, and more!
  • Important issues: In recognition of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Voilence, Hana Asafiri confronts isues around domestic violence, food and women’s equality, and Bendigo Library will screen the classic 1944 film ,Gaslight – the movie that coined the term. Regular events: Don’t forget our ongoing digital literacy sessions, parenting talks, writing workshops, craft and connection groups, movies, StoryWalks, and special Storytimes. 

“We are delighted to present such a large and varied Spring Program,” says Tammy Higgs, Goldfields Libraries’ Programs and events Coordinator. “We encourage you to embrace the warmer weather, soak up the atmosphere and make the most of our free events and activities!”
