Victorian Youth Week encourages climate-wise thinking

Wednesday 2 December 2020

In this strange old year, Victorian Youth Week has arrived!

After being postponed earlier in the year due to Coronavirus, the festival is now moving online, with a special month-long celebration. And Goldfields Libraries are joining in the fun!

To celebrate and acknowledge our younger generation, we’re hosting a number of informative, inspiring and creative virtual events for young people, and the young at heart.

We recognise that young people are concerned about the impact our current lifestyles have on the future of our world, but we believe there are many positive actions we can take that will make a difference. And we hope you think so too.

Get involved and explore ways to help save our planet, save money and become more climate-wise.

Events will be held in December and January and include:

  • Climate Anxiety – Turn the overwhelm into empowerment
Turn overwhelming feelings from environmental concerns into empowering actions to make being climate conscious, eco-friendly and waste wise easier.
  • Climate Wise Youth
Join an exciting panel of young people for a conversation about productive strategies, optimism and grassroots organising
  • Annie Raser-Rowland – The Art of Frugal Hedonism
If you think frugality is about saving old tea bags and grumbling a lot, this talk is for you.
  • Vision for the Future – Vision boards for youth
What is your vision for a more sustainable future? What do you want your world to look like?
  • Chris Kennett – Cartoons for Climate Change
Digital artist, animator and illustrator Chris Kennett will share tips, tricks and skills on creating cartoons with impact that just might make a difference!

All events are free. For more information and bookings, or to download a copy of the program, visit www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au/youthweek.
