Brian Nankervis to feature at the Write on the Fringe Festival
As part of this year’s Write on the Fringe Festival, Goldfields Libraries will welcome Brian Nankervis to present an evening of stand-up comedy, poetry performance and storytelling at Bendigo Library on Thursday 4 August.
Brian is co-host of SBS’s music trivia show RocKwiz with Julia Zemiro, and was the alter-ego of eccentric performance poet Raymond J Bartholomeuz on Nine Network’s Hey Hey It’s Saturday during the 1980s and ’90s.
“We are delighted to have Brian presenting as he has been a much-loved icon of Australian television for many years,” said Chris Kelly, Goldfields Library Corporation CEO.
“Brian offers a great mix of comedy with a literary spin, and his presentation is an exciting way to kick off an action-packed Write on the Fringe program.”
Along with Brian’s performance, Write on the Fringe will also feature a song writing workshop with Darren Middleton from rock band Powderfinger; and the awakening of ‘Hock Loong’ the Learning Dragon, a community arts project which will hang above the children’s area of Bendigo Library. The Festival and Co.Lab art exhibition will be officially launched by City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Rod Fyffe on Friday 5 August.
