Live Literary Performance Competition Coming to Bendigo!

The search is on for Australia’s next Poetry Slam champion! Next Friday Bendigo residents will have the opportunity to witness first-hand the excitement of the 2015 Australian Poetry Slam, and compete if they dare!

Bendigo Library will host a heat of this year’s Australian Poetry Slam at the Engine Room. Take the opportunity to be involved in this high energy, live literary performance competition where the judges are randomly selected from the audience and the rivalry is fierce!

The Slam is a national competition with more than 1000 poets performing to 20,000 people across Australia, and is the largest spoken-word program in the Southern Hemisphere.

Heats are being hosted in regional and metropolitan venues across Victoria during August. Two finalists from each heat will compete in the Victorian state final at the State Library on 11 September, with the winners going on to compete in the national final in Sydney in October.

The Bendigo heat will be held on Friday 14 August at the Engine Room in View Street. Doors open at 6.30pm and entry is free.
