Local Author Susan Green to visit Goldfields Libraries
Celebrated local author Susan Green is set to visit Castlemaine and Woodend Libraries, to discuss her latest book How Bright Are All Things Here.
Susan is best known for the award-winning Verity Sparks series for children, but she has recently changed direction with the release of her first novel for adults, a book about art, family, love and secrets.
“The question I wanted to ask was, ‘Do we ever really know the ones we love?’ Some of my inspiration came from my parents who, as newly-weds, lived and worked in London and Europe in the early 1950’s. After they died, I found photographs, travel diaries and documents, drawings, brochures, magazines, art catalogues and so much more. I began to remember their stories of that time, and they have formed part of the background of the novel,” says Susan.
Castlemaine Library Manager Jess Saunders is intrigued by Ms Green’s change of focus with her writing. “I find it very interesting when a writer publishes a different genre or style to their usual work – I’m very much looking forward to hearing Susan talk about her story and her writing methods,” says Jess.
Susan Green will be at Woodend Library on Wednesday 9 May, 5-6pm, and Castlemaine Library on Thursday 10 May, 5:30-6:30pm.
Book sales and signings will follow each event.
All sessions are free and bookings are required via www.goldfieldslibraries.com
