Local writing award calls for entries

Calling all writers!

Goldfields Libraries and Eaglehawk Festivals Inc. are calling for entries from writers all over Australia for the annual Mulga Bill Writing Award. 

Take inspiration from the theme ‘Fiesta!’ and showcase your talents. Whether you’re an experienced storyteller or aspiring writer, this is your chance to shine!

Prizes will be awarded to the best two in each category.

Short Story
Up to 2,000 words.
Judge: Local author and writer Lauren Mitchell.

  • First Prize: $500
  • Second Prize: $150


Poetry
Up to 25 lines.
Judge: Local writer and poet Anne Gleeson.

  • First Prize: $200
  • Second Prize: $50

Entries close Monday, 24 February 2025, with winners to be announced at the Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival in March.
